When straightening my hair and my girls I only pass once with the flat iron. This helped to avoid scorching of the hair and split ends. One slow controlled pass should get most hair types pretty straight.
Do you have any hair tricks or products you'd like to share? We'd love to hear them!
How can I get my hair like yours in the photo?? Is it possible for my hair type?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely KP! It's very simple. Shampoo and condition as usual then I apply a leave in conditioner. I then section the hair in cornrows and twist straight back while apply a twist and lock gel. Jamaican mango and lime is my favorite right now. You can use organic root stimulator but for me it can be a little flaky at times. finish your head like queen latifah in set it out and let it dry completely. I use a home dryer to speed up the process or a diffuser on my blow dryer while undoing the twist. Make sure you twist tightly of course and tada! Your done! Your hair would be beautiful like this!
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of flat iron is being used?
DeleteI used to do it when I had a relaxer, but I'm not sure how it would look with my natural hair. I guess I'll see! Will try this weekend.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I don't have that much hair anymore. It's gotten short. I think...
ReplyDeleteOh nooo! It will work better with natural hair actually! I need to come out there. As soon as I get back in town I'm making a trip to see about your hair!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your post. I took over my haircare really young also. I thought Vaseline And water solved all my hair woes. I have shiny, greasy hair but my curl was ON! Mom was not happy LOL Great pics!

ReplyDeletemy hair is completely natural but i have been wearing sew-ins for about 2 years. i am scared that i will have to cut it all off and start over due to the lack of attention i have paid it.How can i save it ?
ReplyDeleteSew-Ins can be considered a protective hair style (your hair is braided underneith). However, you need to make sure to deep condition and moisturize.
Deletei love the way you have done this. I saw your video on youtube and was wondering if you could do a step by step video. Id really like to try this. Im from england so i only use relaxer, never done it any other way.
ReplyDeleteYour daughters hair looks so shiny and healthy any tips for my 4c hair type to get the same affect?
ReplyDeletehow do you know what type of hair you have??
ReplyDeleteHi Nicole,
ReplyDeleteLove your video on how to properly straighten natural hair on youtube. My question might seem stupid but I am here in Europe on work assignment and I am about to order the Dudly products from amazon. Can you tell me the exact name of the Dudley setting lotion and the Dudley creme? There appear to be several kinds on amazon.co.uk. Thank you so much. This will help me avoid wasting money buying the wrong prodct.

ReplyDeleteI just want to make sure that I understand, after I wash my daughter's hair, and blow dry it to 60%, I spray the Dudley's Fantastic Body Setting Lotion on it, and apply the creme press and then straighten her hair with the straightening comb?
ReplyDeleteI have a flat iron too, but her edges are very short and I will need a comb to catch the edges.

ReplyDeleteI don't know what my hair needs! I have tried almost all the 4b 4c and 4Z BRIOL PAD PRODUCTS! my hair simply refuses to become soft. Today I went and tried something new Loreal paris advanced hair care *smooth intense polishing conditioner and I found that it actually works my hair immediately became soft and ease to detangle in the shower. Then I followed Simplyuniques blow drying method. Treseame heat taming and blow dryed my hair... when I tell you im heated!! And disappointed! My hair didnt even straighten..it did a bit but it still looks as it dos when its not blow dryed. Help! Grapeseed oil does not soften, olive oil does not soften, shae butter does not soften cowashing regularly does not soften nor does it define my curl patern..I have purchase so much product I am this close to going back to the salon and saying Relax me! Please help! Do you think I should try the listed products im so tired of wasting my money.
ReplyDeleteHow are you trying to wear your hair? My daughter has 4C hair and I've had a hard time managing it due to time and freedom constraints with my other young children, chores, job, husband, etc.
DeleteI've decided to "heat train" her hair to make it more manageable. I've just started so I'm not sure if it actually works for her or not, but others say the texture changes a bit over time and becomes more manageable with less shrinkage. I just bought some Liquid Keratin to use with this process. It's a spray on keratin treatment without any lye, thio, or formaldehyde.
You wash with a clarifying shampoo, spray on treatment, then blow dry 100%, then flat iron at high heat to set the solution. You wash your hair 2 days later to release the solution and repeat the wash, blow dry and flat iron process but you condition and use a leave-in conditioner also the 2nd time around.
The smoothing effect lasts about 4 weeks. It's not permanent. Users say their hair is softer and easier to manage in between treatments and their curl is not lost, only smoothed a bit with less frizz.
Hello what kind of flat iron are you using ma'am?
ReplyDeleteHello Nicole I would like to know step by step process to get the hair as in the video with the names of products, time ... And I wonder what stores you buy your products?
